Zibalianja Camp is located in the 135 000-hectare (1 350 square km) Selinda concession, near the Zibadianja Lagoon – source of the Savuti Channel. Built around a palm island in a sea of floodplain savannah, Zibalianja’s three Meru-style tents are all en-suite and built on wooden decks with wide vistas of the surrounding floodplains. With a maximum of six guests, the emphasis is on intimate hospitality in the tradition of a bygone safari era. |
The thatch bar and viewing deck overlook a small, but active waterhole, whilst meals are taken in the warmth of the well appointed “mess tent.” Activities include game drives, in the early morning, afternoon and at night, allowing sightings of both day and night-time wildlife. Short nature walks with an experienced guide are available as well. In addition, guests may extend their stay to join the Selinda Walking Trail. |
Siesta time is best spent in the sunken hide at the edge of the waterhole, catching the wide variety of plains game and predators that arrive to drink. Wildlife includes Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Lion and an amazing amount of birdlife.
The Selinda Walking Trail, a superb two-day walk between Tswene and Mokoba Trails Camps in the Linyanti Concession, is a wonderful addition to a stay at either Selinda or Zibalianja camps.

Selinda Reserve
The Selinda is a private wildlife concession located in Botswana's northern Kwando/Linyanti Wildlife Management Area. It is a 135 000-hectare reserve that straddles the Selinda Spillway, an ephemeral waterway that links the Okavango Delta to the game-rich floodplains of the Linyanti Swamps and the Zibadianja Lagoon, source of the Savuti Channel.
The Selinda Spillway
The Selinda (or Magweqana) Spillway is a shallow channel connecting the Panhandle region of the Okavango Delta with the Chobe River system. The Spillway flows only in years of high waters. Contrary to popular belief, the Spillway flows only in one direction, from the Okavango to the Chobe. Legend has it that it flows in either direction depending upon water levels in the two systems, but this is not likely as the Okavango side is 30 metres higher than on the Chobe/Linyanti side.
