One of the greatest
concentrations of wildlife in Africa is found
in the South Luangwa National Park, in the north
eastern corner of Zambia.
The vast area
of 9050 square kilometers forms part of the
Great Rift Valley with the majestic Luangwa
River meandering its way through the centre.
|
|
This vital African
ecosystem is sanctuary to unusually large numbers
of Leopard and one of Africa's most important
Elephant populations - the game experience of
South Luangwa has no rival.
You will see
the largest concentration of Nile Crocodile
in Africa, as well as pods of hippo numbering
several hundred. The sight of a single herd
of one thousand buffalo raising the dust as
they traverse plains is an unbelievable experience.

of Lion Camp, including Lilian's Lovebird and
Crowned Cranes, whilst futher exploration in the
National Park affords birders the opportunity
of sighting the rare Green Indigo bird and Madagascar
Bee-eater. |
Lion Camp is one of the few, privileged lodges to
be situated inside the South Luangwa National Park
and is elevated on stilts along the banks of Lion
Lagoon blending with the environment of Mahogany trees
and Winterthorns affording unparalleled views across
open bushveld plains.
Canvas,
thatch and wood combine to ensure guests a unique
bush experience in luxurious and spacious accommodation
with en-suite bathrooms and dual showers together
with private verandas.
| The
elevated central lodge has been designed to maximise
the panoramic view of the surrounding savannah,
whether from the main platform or the swimming
pool. For the privileged few, the opportunity
exists to witness Africa at its most savage when
the resident lion pride is successful in their
hunt. |

 |
Long
wide meandering walkways, beautifully lit at night,
link the chalets to the main lodge ensuring the
guests' comfort and safety. While
enjoying game drives in open Landrovers we also
offer the intrepid the opportunity of tracking
game on foot with highly skilled guides. |
| Night
drives, after toasting the sun down over Africa,
and then searching out the nocturnal life, is
a singular experience. |
