The Skeleton Coast Park extends from the Kunene River in the north to the Ugab River in the south. This area covers approximately 16 000kmē, lying north of Swakopmund. But visitors may be able to get an overview of this magnificent coastal stretch by doing a flying safari. The Skeleton Coast Park is characterised by undulating sand dunes, rocky volcanic mountain ranges and grassy plains towards the interior.
Skeleton Coast Safaris offer visitors who are intrigued by the mystical stretch of coast a chance to spend some time in its realm. Tented accommodation and a variety of adventures are on offer that include dune viewing by 4x4 along the beach. Their introduction is by flying low along the rocky coastline to give visitors a birds eye view of the scenic splendour of the rugged shore. To the north, one can veer towards the interior to meet up with the nomadic Himba tribes on a cultural experience.
